July 24th, 2010 is The National Day of Action to Silence The Violence. Community groups, that work on urban peace across the country, are organizing events to Silence The Violence from Houston to Detroit to Baltimore and of course the Bay Area!
United Playaz and 106 KMEL have teamed up with us to create a truly National event! KMEL has brought hip-hop radio stations in Detroit, New York, and Chicago on-board to participate in Silence The Violence Day this year! And, we will be teaming up with on the ground groups, many of them local United Playaz chapters, in the following cities to create a day of peace on the airwaves and in urban communities!

Here in Oakland we are kicking off this year’s National Day of Action to Silence The Violence early with the Turf Unity Showcase on July 22nd in Oakland. This is the culmination of Turf Unity 4, a youth leadership and music initiative to bring rival hoods together through the power of music.
We will also be featured on radio shows on 106 KMEL in mid-july, keep an eye out for our updates so you can tune in to hear about all the National Day of Action activities!
On July 24th, United Playaz of San Francisco is hosting the official BAY AREA ACTION TO SILENCE THE VIOLENCE with a peace march starting at 10AM at Victoria Manalo Draves Park on Folsom St., between 6th and 7th Streets.
