BEETS Summer program for youth

Community grows is excited to announce that they are accepting applications for their summer high school youth program, BEETS.  The program will run 2-3 days per week from June 24th-August 2nd.  They will be meeting from 12-3 at John Muir Elementary School and setting off from there to help maintain urban gardens in the neighborhood as well as develop skills for youth empowerment, healthy eating, food justice literacy and job readiness. Youth earn $12 p/h with an opportunity for bonuses. Please let me know if you’d like me to come make a presentation in your classroom or at your organization. Please direct any interested youth our way. Online applications are available here and I’ve attached a flyer if you would like to print one. Additionally, if you have ideas for collaboration or want more information about this years’ program I’d love to connect.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Air Quality

Due to the “Camp Fire” in Paradise Butte County, the air quality has been very poor and unhealthy. If possible try to stay indoors with your windows closed. Getting a good air purifier for your home. If you must go outside for an extended period of time please bring an N95 mask and remember those are one use only once you take it off even to blow your nose you will have to replace it. STay safe and stay healthy.
