A Training Exploring What We Can do as Behavioral Health 
Practitioners to Build Health Equity
This training will provide an overview of the concepts and principles of the Enhanced National Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) Standards and enable participants to meaningfully incorporate these critical components into their work.
With a specific focus on African American adults, and Transitional-Age Youth (TAY), this training will help participants address some of the common misconceptions about culture, and take a close look at how personal and organizational culture can drive our interactions with beneficiaries, and impact their treatment outcomes.
Participants in this training will gain an understanding of the National CLAS Standards, and learn research-based approaches to building personal and organizational cultural competency.
At the conclusion of this training, participants will be able to:   
  • Establish a working definition of culture, its role and purpose
  • Assess salient cultural impacts in your work
  • Recognize appropriate and inappropriate responses to common scenarios facing those in the field of behavioral health
  • Apply CLAS  guidelines and concepts when having difficult conversations about race, culture, and equity
  • Utilize the Enhanced National CLAS Standards to assess current practices and plan for the future

This COST-FREE training is presented by ONTRACK Program Resources with funding from the California Department of Health Care Services.  It meets the qualifications for 5-hours of continuing education credit for MFTs, LPCCs and/or LCSWs, as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, Provider Approval Number PCE 307; the California Board of Registered Nurses, BRN Provider Number 12040; and the California Foundation for Advancement of Addiction Professionals (CFAAP), Provider Number 4C-04- 604-0618.
