You have one hour to gather your belongings and leave your home. What do you take with you? What do you leave behind?Director Sam Ball will moderate a timely community conversation and unveil a new film & photomontages narrated by young adult refugees. Discussants will also include Amy Weiss, Director of Refugee & Immigrant Services at Jewish Family and Community Services East Bayand Francesco Spagnolo, Curator of the Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life, which will mount an interactive multimedia exhibition of refugees’ memories, objects, and maps.

Refugees from AfghanistanPakistanSyriaand Uganda are part of an ongoing storytelling lab co-produced by Citizen Film and the Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life thanks to support from the Covenant Foundation, and Professor Spagnolo’s Mapping Diasporas, a research project and course at the Magnes, in the Department of Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies, with support from Digital Humanities at UC Berkeley.

BALANCING ACTS at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts through June 13th

The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts has extended the run of Chagall: Colour and Music, a multidisciplinary exhibition.

Citizen Film’s Balancing Acts, produced by Sam Ball, Kate Stilley and Bill Susman, is featured in this first-of-its-kind “sensorial immersion” into the life and works of one of the most original artists of the twentieth century.
