DCYF YWD Lab:  Youth-Centered Workforce Programming

Provided by Pathways Consultants & CHALK/Bay Area Community Resources

What do Youth Know?  Everything!  Youth-Centered Workforce Programming

Series of 3 Half-Day Workshops – requires attendance at all 3 sessions

Includes 4 hours of coaching/agency

Have you ever noticed how adult-driven, and frankly dull, most of our Youth Workforce programs are?  They often lack many of the Youth Development hallmarks that make for great programming.  In this sequenced series of hands-on labs, you will create and implement a plan to increase engagement, voice and choice, relationship development, and other standards that make your programs truly impactful for youth.  We will:

  • Design opportunities to learn from youth what they want and need
  • Analyze the data you collect to identify opportunities to incorporate new strategies
  • Create a plan with short- and long-term action steps based on direct information from youth
  • Implement that plan with coaching support
  • Reflect on the process, successes/impact, and adjust your plan to continue the work post-lab

Participants are eligible to receive up to 4 hours of coaching to support implementation of strategies developed in the Lab.
