Hi Youth Advocates,

Do you have teens who enjoy working outdoors, working with kids, and motivated to learn new job skills? The BEETS program is hiring for

our newly expanded term (October 2016 – May 2017)!  This paid internship will allow teens to learn how to grow healthy food, work with a diverse group of peers, teach kids, and positively impact the community.  
Our interns will learn about food justice and how community gardens play a part in bringing equality to our food system


Our BEETS interns:
  • Maintain community and school gardens in the Western Addition
  • Develop critical job skills (resume writing, interviewing skills, showing up on time, professionalism, etc.)
  • Assist teaching our elementary school garden classes
  • Attend field trips
  • Earn 
    up to $2,200 during session (depending on hours worked & attendance)


  • 15-19 years of age on October 6, 2016
  • Living in San Francisco (priority given to Western Addition residents)
  • Interested in gaining experience in basic horticulture, environmental education, and basic job skills
  • Able to commit to the entire 
    fall and spring

     2016-17 session: 

    October 6 – May 6, 2017

  • Available: Tuesday and Thursday 4:00pm-6:00pm, 1 additional weekday shift based on their availability, and 1-2 Saturdays/month
  • Legally employable in the U.S.
