Youth Radio Fellowship Program Details
The Digital Media & Technology Pathways Fellowship is a State of California recognized On-the-job training program (OJT) that prepares out of school Oakland youth from low-income backgrounds with skills in digital media marketing, followed by a three month paid internship at a local business matched to their individual skills development and interests.  Please feel free to contact Jessica Damian at 510-251-1101jessica@youthradio.org or myself, Michael Lee 510-251-1101michael.lee@youthradio.org with any questions, concerns or requests for presentations.

Program Overview
Training:
  • Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays @ Youth Radio.  All classes are 9:30am – 12pm
  • Up to $500/month in stipend ($100/wk + $25/wk in possible bonuses), paid bi-weekly, based on 100% participation in training activities and project completion.
  • Receive State of California On-The-Job Training(OJT) Certificate in communications upon completion
  • Advanced Photoshop training with opportunity to become Adobe Photoshop Certified
  • Full suite of wraparound services provided during training (case management, academic and career advising, free 1 year therapy provided on site by The Wright Institute per student request)
  • Field Trips and Job shadowing opportunities through out training
Internship:
  • 3 month placement at a local business
  • Earning $12.55/hr
  • Working between 15 – 25 hrs/week
Requirements:
  • Must be Oakland resident aged 18-24 (Youth in transitional housing located outside of Oakland accepted)
  • Must have ID & Social Security Card
  • Able to provide proof of household income (if any)
  • Eligibility to work
  • Willing to take a basic skills test for workplace reading and mathematics
Basic skills test must be scheduled upon application submission, to ensure potential participant is eligible.
