Thanks to a one-year, one-time gift, we are hiring for a new, one-year, position for a Coordinator that will work closely with Western Addition Service Providers and USF Staff and Faculty to build upon and support existing efforts to document and support the mental health successes and needs of the Western Addition. This is a staff position with the Engage San Francisco initiative
at theLeo T. McCarthy Center for Public Service and the Common Good
at the University of San Francisco.
The person who fills this position will have a strong desire to work in partnership with a wide variety of community-based organizations and mental health providers in the Western Addition. Knowledge of the Western Addition is strongly preferred. They will partner with pre-existing community coalitions to support building the capacity of community organizations/ coalitions while honoring the momentum of ongoing community work that supports youth mental health. The ideal applicant will be comfortable working with a variety of stakeholders, including, but not limited to, city government staff, medical professionals, community service providers, university faculty, and community members. The goal of this position is to build upon, document, promote, and refine through collaborative processes, the shared vision for community mental heath that is emerging in the Western Addition.
Applicants need to have strong communication skills; the ability to do coalition work where the definitions of successful outcomes vary depending on stakeholders; the skills needed to works strategically while considering both immediate and long-term goals, and the cultural knowledge and humility to engage in conversations about intergenerational mental health and trauma in the Western Addition. It is not required that you be a clinician, as you will not be treating patients.
