Under minimum supervision, the Probation Aide will assist Adult Probation Department staff with the functioning of the Department’s operations at all levels. The Probation Aide duties include; however, are not limited to the following: support probation staff and management in performing routine job related tasks and special projects; maintain respectful relationships with probationers, victims, criminal justice partners, and other collaterals; record Court hearings and other relevant information in records management system; escort probationers to designated areas within the department; maintain attendance, progress, and other activities related to probationer performance; identify and order supplies; liaison between Deputy Probation Officer, Sheriff’s Department and District Attorney’s Office; outreach with outside agencies and programs in order to collect program materials and information about support services, and performs related duties as assigned.
Applicants must have completed one year (equivalent to 30 semester units or 45 quarter units) of education towards a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in the Social and Behavioral Sciences, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Education, or closely related field.

§ Some knowledge of Evidence-Based Principles related to improving the outcomes of our probationers
§ Computer-literate performer with software experience covering wide variety of applications
§ Strong organizational skills
§ Exceptional listener and communicator who effectively conveys information verbally and in writing. Bilingual or multi-lingual speaker, a plus.
§ Possesses human relations skills required to communicate effectively with probationers and be sensitive to their needs
§ Familiarity working with diverse population
§ Ability to self-motivate and work independently with minimum supervision
§ Flexible team player who thrives in environments requiring ability to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple concurrent projects.
