Thank you for your ongoing support of the Working Families Credit Program (WFC), the City’s commitment to help low-income working families keep more of what they earn.
Last tax season, more than 720 qualifying San Francisco families applied to the WFC Program for the first time and received their credit of up to $250 in September. This year, the Credit payment will again be $250 for eligible families who use direct deposit to a bank or credit union account. Those who request a paper check will receive $100 for their Credit.
The WFC is again available this tax season to qualifying families that have never received this credit. While past recipients of the WFC do not need to submit a WFC application this tax season, please do encourage them to file a Federal and California tax return to get all the federal and state tax credits and refunds they deserve. This year’s Federal Earned Income Tax Credit is worth up to $6,143 and the NEW California Earned Income Tax Credit1 is worth up to an additional $2,653 for qualifying families!
In an effort to save trees, we have reduced our printing of the application forms this tax season, however we encourage you to visit our website to download this year’s forms in English, Spanish, and Chinese and print/copy as many as you need. We do have a limited supply of forms at the WFC office — to request a pack of applications be mailed to your office, please contact us at email@example.com.
You can review the WFC eligibility criteria here.
Applications are due (or must be postmarked) by April 18th, 2016.
From all of us at the Working Families Credit Program, thank you again for partnering with us to effectively outreach to San Francisco’s most vulnerable families. With your help, we hope that San Francisco families will be able to draw down thousands of extra dollars in unclaimed credits, benefits, and resources.
