In celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, join us for Listen to Our Stories: Illuminating Children’s Rights through Oral History, a free workshop with Voice of Witness on utilizing human rights-based oral history in the classroom to illuminate the rights of children.

At this event you will:

  • Gain hands-on training with Voice of Witness for integrating human rights-based oral history curriculum.
  • Explore Voice of Witness curriculum tools and student work samples from schools across the country.
  • Hear presentations by Monisha Bajaj (Director of USF’s MA in Human Rights Education) and Felisa Tibbitts (Founder of Human Rights Education Associates)
  • Network among educators, activists, and programs interested in children’s issues and human rights education.

Bring your family, a blanket and prepare yourself for a day of community connectedness.


Bay Area Jazz Trio

Grillin’ in the Mo’ is a free blues concert and family BBQ celebrating the start of summer events in the Fillmore District and summer enrichment programs for Western Addition youth.

Grab some food, fly a kite, make gigantic bubbles, and enjoy some blues with Freddie Hughes and jazz by Fillmore’s own, Bay Area Jazz Trio. Soulful hits will be spinning all day by DJ, Mr. “C”. Join our seniors with some line dancing, while the kids enjoy youth activities in our kid’s zone, i.e. face painting, free kites, jumpers, & bubbles. Grillin in the Mo’ is our Summer Fest Kick-Off, a day to spend with family & community.

ATTENTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!     The next Public Safety Meeting is MONDAY, JUNE 2 at 7:00PM at the Korean American Center at 745 Buchanan.  We will hear from MARTY HALLORAN, President of the San Francisco Police Officers Association.  We will also hear from  Gary Delagnes of the POA.  WHAT ROLE DOES THE POA PLAY IN PUBLIC SAFETY?  How can community members work with the San Francisco POA on safety issues in their neighborhoods?   We will also hear from Northern Station on the crime statistics for the first part of the year.  Be there to hear from the leader of our city’s POA and to discuss safety concerns in your neighborhood.  Thanks.
