This year the California Food Policy Advocates (CFPA) and the SF-Marin Food Bank are co-sponsoring state legislation (SB 1147 – DeSaulnier) designed to ensure that CalFresh enrollment and participation are straightforward, consistent experiences for individuals and families throughout California. We’d greatly appreciate counting you as a partner in support of SB 1147.
PLEASE CIRCULATE WIDELY!
SB 1147 would:
- Establish, through a collaborative process including stakeholder input, statewide CalFresh customer service standards and performance goals.
- Periodically monitor progress toward meeting those standards and goals.
- Make statewide and county-level data indicators describing customer service and performance regularly available to the public via a dynamic data management tool.

SB 1147 is scheduled to be heard in the Senate Human Services Committee on Tuesday, April 8. As we prepare for this hearing we’re requesting that supporters submit a letter to the author by March 31. It would be great to see as many groups as possible listed in support! I’ve included below a link to a sample support letter.
Please contact the Food Bank’s Associate Director of Policy and Advocacy, Teri Olle, with any questions. She can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
