Hello dear colleagues and amazing youth advocates –

Happy March! How have you been? I sincerely hope you are all well, rested, and feeling good! It is definitely that time of year again when I send out my regular outreach emails regarding the Youth Commission’s application process. The Youth Commission (YC) application for the 2014-2015 term has just been released (attached to this email).

I am writing to you all with hopes that you can forward this opportunity along to the youth or peers you work with. This may be a fantastic opportunity for the youth leaders that you work with. I would greatly appreciate it if you could forward the application and info below to youth leaders and workers alike. Of course if you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Who: This opportunity is for any young person between 12 and 23 years old  who live or attend school in San Francisco, who are interested in city government, bringing youth issues and youth voice to city hall and elected officials, bridging the gap between youth and government, and down to increase youth civic engagement and make some youth noise in City Hall!

What: YC applications for 2014-2015 year. The Youth Commission is a body of 17 San Franciscans between the ages of 12 and 23. Created by the voters under a 1995 amendment to the City Charter, the commission is responsible for advising the Board of Supervisors and the Mayor on policies and laws related to young people.  When appointed, each youth serves 1 year term (generally starting in August of each year to the following year).  Online link to application: http://www.sfbos.org/modules/showdocument.aspx?documentid=48160
