INTRODUCTION

APPOINTMENT TYPE: Temporary-Exempt. The General Services Agency Department of Public Works has an opening for an exempt as needed appointment. Temporary exempt as-needed appointments are not to exceed six (6) months or 1040 hours. Exempt employees are considered “at will” and serve at the discretion of the appointing officer.

There are three (3) positions available in the Department of Public Works, Street & Environmental Services – Special Projects Graffiti Unit, located at 2323 Cesar Chavez Ave, San Francisco, CA 94124.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under general direction of the Program Analyst, this class will assist with office support and special projects. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Using radio to check in/out, report deficiencies to dispatch control, contact supervisor or call for assistance.

Operating Bureau vehicles safely; inspecting assigned vehicles before and after each shift; attending bi-weekly safety meetings.

Knowledge, ability, and skills: requires ability to follow simple oral or written instructions; read and write; and a healthy attitude toward work.

Use Mobile Tablet to Post and Inspect Private Properties for Graffiti and Blight related issues (requires inspections, re-inspections, data collection, photo documentation)

Update and save date stamped photos of various locations in computer and database.

Opening and closing of service request

Assisting with clerking Public Hearings as requested

Complete and submit weekly reports

Establishing and maintaining positive working relationship with colleagues, supervisors and Bureau administration.

Dealing with the general public, other City Agencies, Vendors, Contractors and Supervisors in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner.

Adhering to all Bureau policies, procedures, and rules.

Use standard office equipment (computer, phone, fax and copier) to perform daily task.

Perform administrative support and other duties and tasks as required by the Program.

Perform other duties as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Good communication skills. AND

2. Ability to write correspondences using complete sentences and proper grammar. AND

3.         Working knowledge of computers and proficiency in Excel, Word and working knowledge of Access. AND

4. Good public relations skills. AND

5. Possession and maintenance of a valid California driver license (Class C). A photocopy of the required driver’s license must be submitted with the application at the time of filing.
