Hello colleagues,

The San Francisco Afterschool for All effort is excited to announce it has changed its name to the Expanded Learning Collaborative and that it is currently recruiting out of school time stakeholders to participate in its Policy Council.

The name Expanded Learning Collaborative: Making the Most of K-12 Out of School Time Learning is reflective of the enhanced scope the Afterschool for All effort has tackled over the last few years. While the effort originally focused primarily on the afterschool needs of elementary and middle school youth citywide, now the effort also includes out of school time options for high school age youth and summer programming. The effort will continue to bring together stakeholders across the city to focus on the issues of increasing access to program options and enhancing program quality, and will continue to be led by DCYF and SFUSD. Stay tuned for more developments about our re-branding.

As the school year begins, we are seeking leaders who are committed to out of school time issues to serve on the Expanded Learning Collaborative’s Policy Council and two work groups. The Policy Council is a dynamic advisory body that brings together stakeholders in San Francisco’s out of school time community to focus on systems-level policies and solutions that increase access to programs and enhance the quality of programs throughout the city.  Terms are for 2-4 years and the Council meets 4 times a year. See the attached Policy Council application for more details and a link to the online application, which is due Sept 6, 2013.

We are also seeking committed individuals to participate in two work groups. One work group will focus on issues related to increasing principals, providers and families’ understanding of how OST programs are funded and the other will focus on issues related to enhancing the quality of summer programming citywide. Each work group has different time commitments. For more details, please see the attached Work Group application which has a link to the online application, which is due Sept 6, 2013.

Please share this email broadly with your networks. Also, please let me know if you have any questions.
