Ask Senator Feinstein to Support HUD Housing Programs

The Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD), on which Senator Dianne Feinstein serves, will mark up its FY14 bill on June 25. It is critical that Senator Feinstein hears from you that HUD’s rental housing programs need to be protected in FY14.

The House THUD Subcommittee has already approved its FY14 bill and made deep cuts to rental assistance for the lowest income households. The House Subcommittee’s bill would result in the loss of more than 100,000 vouchers, underfunded project-based rental contracts, and cut public housing funding.

Ask Senator Feinstein to make sure the Senate FY14 Subcommittee bill funds these programs at the level required to maintain current services, in the very least.

  • Tenant-Based Rental Assistance. $19.98 billion to fully fund all vouchers in use as of the end of 2012, as the President’s budget requested.
  • Project-Based Rental Assistance. $11.4 billion to fully fund all current properties with one year contracts.
  • Public Housing. $5.15 billion for the Operating Fund and $3.75 billion for the Capital Fund.
  • Homeless Assistance. $2.38 billion, as the President’s budget requested.
  • HOME Investment Partnerships Program. $1.6 billion to continue development of rental units.
