This was sent to a colleague for children in Fremont area but it is worth checking if it is available in your area. I copied and pasted it below:

BART’s Summer Youth Tour Program is now in its seventh year, it is designed to educate local youth about BART, encourage transit ridership and demonstrate the benefits of public transit by allowing youth to ride BART at no cost to cultural and recreational destinations near BART stations.

BART staff is currently coordinating participation in this year’s Program. We have tours (field-trips) available in  August Children’s Fairyland in Oakland (ages 3-7), San Francisco Asian Art Museum (up to 18 years), and, preview performance of The Marriage of Figora (10-18 years).

Last summer more than 500 students, ages 4-18, participated in our program. Thanks to the generosity of our partners, many of these youths, some for the very first time in their lives, were exposed to the many attractions the Bay Area has to offer.
