Job Development Specialist II San Mateo County $28.58-$35.73/hour
The Human Services Agency (HSA) of San Mateo County is seeking a Job Development Specialist II to promote and develop employment opportunities for the criminal justice realignment population or those who have extensive criminal backgrounds as well as those with barriers to employment. Will also provide leadership, coordination and support for community based organizations and partners, provide a variety of support services to clients individually and in groups, participate in outreach and recruitment activities by attending job fairs and other networking events, and create partnerships with local employers to build long-term relationships. The Job Development Specialist may also have project lead responsibility.
The ideal candidate will have work experience in job development and placement of the criminal justice realignment population or those with extensive criminal backgrounds as well as other barriers to employment, knowledge of basic principles/practices of marketing and PR as they relate to job development, related professional experience providing a variety of employment services, familiarity with community resources and referral services along with local labor market trends, and competency with MS Office, including Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Publisher. Should also have strong skills in public speaking and be able to engage employers. A typical way to qualify is 2 years of professional experience providing a variety of job development, job placement and support services for job seekers, including first time entrants, the unemployed and dislocated workers.
This is a benefitted position, but temporary (Unclassified), and not covered by the Civil Service rules.
