Greetings Community Partner!
It is the distinct honor and pleasure of the Marcus Foster Education Fund to serve the College Bound Brotherhood 2.0 as fiscal and program intermediary. As we work toward refining the agenda for the 2013 calendar year, I am reaching out to you to begin the dialogue supporting the College Bound Brotherhood 2.0 Learning Community. The initial aim of the Brotherhood 2.0 is to support the college access and success of 500 Bay Area, African American young men who are currently seniors in high school. Several exciting strategies are being crafted to share with the Learning Community very soon.
The College Access Foundation of California and the Mitchell Kapor Foundation look to your leadership, extensive expertise and genuine commitment to the success of African American young men to help ground the Learning Community. In this initial year, the programmatic objectives reinforce the work you already perform with African American young men and serve to create an opportunity for planning in strategic areas that are intended to help sustain your already exceptional work.
The Kick-Off meeting will take place in two weeks on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 from 12-3 pm, location to be determined. We will start with lunch followed by an overview of the College Bound Brotherhood 2.0 and Learning Community. The final agenda item will be a financial aid training, providing an overview of the entire public financial aid process. Additional information regarding opportunities for the young men you serve to receive support in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and all requirements for Cal Grant eligibility before the March 2, 2013 priority deadline will also be available. Please RSVP for the February 6th event by Friday, January 25th by replying to this email confirming your participation.
Thank you in advance for your time. The Marcus Foster team is looking forward to working with you!
