Location: Log Cabin Ranch, 500 Log Cabin Rd., La Honda.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under direction, the Employment & Training Specialist V performs difficult and responsible professional and technical vocational work in the areas of planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating workforce development programs and performs related duties as required.
Essential functions include: The instructor will provide educational support, college preparation, facilitation and coordination of student research projects, and instruction to Juvenile detained within the Log Cabin Ranch. Juvenile Camp Facility designed for delinquent youths ages 14-18 years old, who are committed by the Juvenile Court. Targeted youths have attained a high school diploma or GED, and have begun taking on-line college courses. The instructor will perform these duties one day per week on-site in La Honda, California, at the facility owned and operated by the San Francisco Juvenile Probation Department.
1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Personnel or Public Administration, Business Administration, Vocational Counseling or a closely related field (submit copy of diploma and/or transcripts); AND 2. Three (3) years verifiable experience in Vocational Assessment, Employment Counseling, Job Placement or a closely related field. OR
SUBSTITUTION: Verifiable experience as described in # 2 of the minimum qualifications may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-to-year basis. Thirty (30) semester units/forty-five (45) quarter units equal one (1) year.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with At Risk youth, High School age youth, and College and Graduate level interns.

DISASTER SERVICE WORKERS
All City and County of San Francisco employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the City requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
