The James Irvine Foundation is a private, nonprofit grant making foundation dedicated to expanding opportunity for the people of California to participate in a vibrant, successful and inclusive society. The Foundation’s grant making focuses on three program areas: Arts, California Democracy and Youth. Since 1937 the Foundation has provided over $1.3 billion in grants to more than 3,500 nonprofit organizations throughout California. With about $1.6 billion in assets, the Foundation made grants of $68 million in 2012 for the people of California.
Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the Administrative Specialist is responsible for providing administrative support to the CIO and senior members of the investment team, to include managing calendars, travel, meeting preparation, expense reports and other special projects as assigned. A key responsibility will be to manage the collection, classification and depositing of the large amount of investment data and reports into the centralized accounting/investments database. In addition, the Administrative Specialist provides limited administrative support to the Executive Vice President.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or five years administrative experience, a minimum of one year experience working in a foundation or financial institution, strong skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook and familiarity with databases, such as Tamales desired. Superior administrative, organizational, time management and communication skills are required.
