Hello, SF youth service providers:
Please find below the link to the latest report from the National Youth Employment Coalition, with some information on the federal budget challenges. And as a reminder…
“As we head into the last quarter of 2012, New Door Ventures is already looking ahead to next year! We’ve provided paid employment and individual support to more than 130 transitional-aged youth this year, in the businesses we own and at our partner sites across the city. We’ve also supported more than half of those youth to make educational gains while in program. While we don’t have many job openings in the coming weeks, January will come quickly, so I wanted to let you know about important dates for any interested youth that your organization may want to refer to New Door. Candidates who apply now will be preferred for any immediate opportunities in the Switch program (internships offered at a New Door-owned business), or for the first Ally cohort of 2013.
The first step for a youth applicant is to attend a group interview, which is an hour-long information session held at New Door’s warehouse. As you may know, youth do not need to sign up in advance or complete an application to attend—they simply need to show up on time! Final 2012 dates for group interviews:
Tuesday, October 30, 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, November 6, 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, November 13, 10:30 a.m.
*NO GROUP INTERVIEW ON 11/20
Tuesday, November 27, 2012
Tuesday, December 4, 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, December 11, 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, December 18, 10:30 a.m. FINAL FOR 2012!
The next cycle of the Ally program (our internship with community partner businesses) will begin on January 15, so we are eager to recruit participants now! Please send any youth ages 17-21 who are facing obstacles to employment to an upcoming group interview. Feel free to contact me with questions, and I look forward to seeing you in the coming weeks.”
