October 23rd, 2012 - [USF] Death Penalty Discussion with District Attorney Gascon

Death Penalty in California A  conversation with District Attorney George Gascón

Tuesday Oct. 23 | 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Maraschi Room, Fromm Hall

District Attorney George Gascón succeeded Heather Fong as Chief of Police in San Francisco until his appointment as DA by Gavin Newsom last November. Mr. Gascón, once an  advocate of the death penalty, has come out in opposition to the death penalty and in favor of reform to the state’s three strikes law. He will be joined by Natasha Minsker, death penalty policy director of the ACLU of Northern California and campaign manager of the Yes on 34 campaign and Ron Ahnen, a long time member of Murder Victims’ Families for Reconciliation and president of California  Prison Focus. We hope you will join us for a lively conversation and Q&A. McCarthy Center Director Corey Cook will moderate the Q&A.
