San Francisco’s groundbreaking black performance troupe, Pomo Afro Homos, mixed theater, hip-hop, dram

a, dance, and comedy into a rich expression of African American gay life in the U.S. Short for Postmodern African American Homosexuals, the newly-revived Bessie-winning group performs Fierce Love (Remix), a jazzy mix of wicked humor and personal narratives exploring the joys, conflicts, pleasure,

pains, and contradictions of black gay life. An updated recreation of the group’s signature piece, the show brings together original Pomo Afro Homos writer/performer Brian Freeman with a new crew of performers.

JOIN THE CELEBRATION!

 

You are invited to a Birthday party and a celebration of the 19th year of AfroSolo Arts Festival, one of San Francisco’s longest running festivals that celebrates the stories of Bay Area African artists and performers.

 

On October 23rd, we will do so and re-create the vintage feeling of the 1991 birthday party for AfroSolo Arts Festival’s founder, Thomas R Simpson which inspired the Festival’s launch in 1994.

 

As a  toast to all of my friends and supporters, at this event, we will also celebrate your birthday.  In other words,

A Birthday Party for All!

When: Tuesday October 23rd, 8 pm – 10 pm

              Admission: Sliding Scale: $10- $30

                             (No one turned away for lack of funds)
