This engaging presentation will allow participants to examine the implications of culture in the treatment and recovery of addiction. We will examine the culture of incarceration and the challenges of re-entry, along with the culture of the Recovery movement. Additionally, we will explore the specific challenges members of various cultures experience as they participate in treatment and self-help support groups, and how Cognitive Behavioral Therapy when used effectively can help to increase outcomes for these individuals.

Participants in the training will:

  1. Improve understanding of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques and learn practical methods of utilizing these techniques in addressing the clinical, cultural, and post-incarceration syndrome needs of the re-entry population.
  2. Learn specific cross-cultural counseling techniques that can be applied immediately in their workplace, as well as in the facilitation of culturally themed support groups.
  3. Explore techniques to help themselves and their clients overcome barriers to treatment and recovery success, and incorporate post-incarceration support strategies that promote more positive treatment outcomes, including abstinance, employment, and relationships.

He is a motivational speaker who conducts seminars, workshops,  keynote presentations, staff training, skills building and program development  worldwide.
