It was standing room only when San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi joined United Way and roughly 200 business and community leaders to launch San Francisco Summer Jobs+, the local response to President Obama’s national call to action to hire youth this summer. Representative Pelosi said, “This partnership between businesses, nonprofits and government will strengthen our youth, our city, and indeed our nation.”
Mayor Lee called on companies to step up to the challenge. PG&E was the first to come forward with a $125,000 gift followed by AT&T, Bank of America, BRE Properties, Boston Consulting, Deloitte, Revolution Foods, Jamba Juice, Salesforce, UPS, Wells Fargo, Hornblower Cruises, and many more.
