DESCRIPTION
This training will provide an overview of the concepts and principles of cultural and linguistic competence, and enable participants to meaningfully incorporate these critical components into service delivery. Participants will learn how to assess their services and align their work with the 14 National CLAS Standards developed by the US Dept. of Health and Human Services, Office of Minority Health.

OBJECTIVES
Through hands-on, highly interactive training modules, participants in this training will: Establish a working definition of culture, its role and purpose Explore personal values in relation to client or participant values Embed cultural outcomes in each step of their planning process Become familiar with the 14 CLAS standards and their function as an organizational framework
* This training provides 6-CEHs/CEUs accepted by all AOD counselor certifying organizations in California. It also meets the qualifications for 6-BBS CEUs for MFT’s and/or LCSW’s as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, PCE 5067, and the California Board of Registered Nursing, CEP 12240*
