The Village Project Presents the Fillmore Summerfest Kick-Off

“Grilling in the ‘Mo”

What: SAN FRANCISCO — The Village Project, in collaboration with the YMCA, Hamilton Recreation Center, and MoMagic  presents its 4th “Summer Fest Kick-Off.  “Grilling in the ‘Mo” will jump start a summer of free concerts and festivals to be held in the historical Fillmore Jazz District, Including the city’s Juneteenth Celebration (June 18-19), The Fillmore Jazz Festival (July 2-3), Salsa on the Fillmore (July 15th -16th) and the Fillmore’s first Reggae Festival (August 27th), to name a few.  This free family bar-b-que will also celebrate the start of a summer of fun and enrichment programs for the community’s youth.   There will be plenty of food & live entertainment, featuring the Silver Fox Blues Band, along with performances from The Village Kids Chorus, Hamilton Recreation’s line dancers, a live DJ for dancing, raffles and activities for all, young and old.

Adrian Williams, the Executive Director of the Village Project, is renown for her community commitment  and family productions, including this year’s 5th annual Kwanzaa Celebration (Dec. 26 – Jan 1) and most recently, Mardi Gras San Francisco Style/ Fat Tuesday in the Fillmore held on March 8th.  She is the founder of The Village Project, a youth service organization focusing on education and cultural enrichment for youth and their families in the Western Addition.  “I believe that these family events help to strengthen and unite our community, along with promoting a safe and enriched summer for our youth.”   The Village Project will sponsor its 5th all day Summer Enrichment Camp, from June 6th – August 12th for youth 6 to 14 years old.
