Dear Summer Learning Network members:

As you know, the Summer Learning Network is advocating actively for a repeat of the free group Muni passes that Muni provided to our members last summer.

If you possibly can, please come to a critical meeting to advocate for the passes:

Tuesday, May 10th
10:00 am to Noon
1 South Van Ness (at Market Street), 7th floor

Time is running short! The meeting is the Policy & Governance Committee of the MTA (Municipal Transportation Agency) Board of Directors, and we’re now told that this is how the decision will be made. The building is at Muni Metro’s Van Ness station and is served by many Muni lines. The link at the bottom of this e-mail gives accessibility information. As you know, these passes enable summer youth programs to take field trips and explore the city, enriching the summers of children and youth who would otherwise lose out on these activities without them. Not only that, they’ve supported anti-violence work in our highest-need neighborhoods by allowing youth programs to get together for field trips and activities, so that kids in different parts of the neighborhood get to know each other while having fun. And the supervised trips on Muni help young people learn appropriate behavior on Muni and gain a sense of stewardship of their community and the city.

See you at the meeting!

Making San Francisco a Summer Learning City — a community that enriches all children and youth with high-quality activities to reverse summer learning loss.
