The following is an overview of the TrainGreenSF Sector Academy Training Program that is recruiting participants for the first quarter of 2011.  Please carefully review each of the program descriptions for eligibility requirements, training dates, and how to apply.  Interested participants must attend an Orientation Session as detailed below.  The earlier participants attend an Orientation Session, the better their chances are for getting into the class. Flyers for each Academy are attached at the base of this message.


Energy Efficiency Entry-Level Training
January 18-May 27, 2011
20 hours per week
The CCSF Energy Efficiency training program prepares students for jobs in the energy efficiency and auditing industry.  The program covers energy efficiency concepts, auditing principles and techniques, and weatherization skills.  Construction skills will be included in the training.  This is a 17-week training.
Eligibility Requirements:
· Age 18 or older
· Ability to speak and understand conversational English
· High School Diploma or GED
· 10th grade math and English level
· Ability to move in small spaces (e.g. attics and crawl spaces)

Solar Thermal Training
January 18-May 27, 2011
20 hours per week
The CCSF Solar Thermal Design and Installation training program prepares students for jobs in the solar water industry.  The 17-week program covers basic construction skills, construction safety, plumbing, blueprint reading, and design & installation of solar thermal (solar hot water) systems.  Additionally, students will receive training in how to maximize customer satisfaction.  No previous construction experience is necessary.
Eligibility Requirements:
· Age 18 or older
· Ability to speak and understand conversational English
· High School Diploma or GED
· 9th grade math and English level
· Ability and comfortable to climb ladders and work on roofs

Office & Administrative Skills Training
Entry-Level Training:  January 18-May 27, 2011
20 hours per week
The CCSF Office and Administrative Skills training program prepares students for administrative assistant positions within solar, energy efficiency and green companies. Skills covered will include: customer service, keyboarding, Microsoft Office, business English, and more. Students will receive workplace simulation practice and introduction to green industries.
Eligibility Requirements:
· Age 18 or older
· High School Diploma or GED
· Ability to speak and understand conversational English
· 9th grade math and English level

Recycling and Resource Recovery Training
January 3 to February 11, 2011
Monday-Friday 8:00am-12:00pm
The SF Clean City Recycling and Resource Recovery Training curriculum aims to provide environmental literacy and vocational skills training through classroom, active practice, and field trip settings in the waste reduction, recycling, reuse, and recovery fields, in preparation for applying for and working in a related green collar job.

Eligibility Requirements:
· Age 18 or older
· Ability to speak and understand conversational English
· 8th grade math and English level
· Ability to lift 20 pounds
· Ability to walk continuously for up to two hours

Note: This class will be offered again 2/14/11 to 3/25/11, and 3/28/11 to 5/6/11.

Transportation Training
Open enrollment class, 10-12 weeks long
The Goodwill Transportation Training prepares students for commercial driver’s license (CDL A) with passenger endorsement. The training is a combination of classroom lecture covering customer service, industry standards, Department of Transportation regulations, and safety protocols along with environmentally efficient driving and vehicle maintenance practices. Students receive hands-on training using a state of the art driving simulator and behind the wheel driving instruction. Students are accompanied by the instructor to the commercial driving test.
Eligibility Requirements:
· Age 22 or older
· Ability to speak and understand conversational English
· 7th grade math and English level
· Class C license with clean DMV record
· Ability to pass DOT drug test and physical
